Nebiolo Foundry. Late 1930s. This ornament, which also includes the blocks in the two upper rows, was called "Fregio Littorio" on the Nebiolo catalog of the 1930s. After the war, the name became Fregio 916. The same ornament appears with few variations on a previous catalog of the Schriftguss Foundry in Dresden, listed as Blickfang Series 162, Series 163, Series 174 and Series 175. Rationalist–constructivist Series 916 and Series 919 ornaments. Nebiolo Foundry. Late 1930s.
Series 916 is the one at the top, while Series 919 is in the three rows at the bottom. They were initially called "Fregio Littorio" on the Nebiolo catalog of the 1930s. The name changed after the war. Although Modernism did not like decorated ornaments bordered by flourishes, that abounded at the beginning of the century, foundries bent to the taste of those typographers who favored that “vegetal” richness and continued to produce them.
